The following will occur during laparoscopic exploration: You will be asked to change into a hospital gown. You may be given medicine in your IV to help you relax or make you drowsy. You will be taken on a cart to the operating room and then moved to the bed of the wagon specific. You will get the anesthesia drug called to prevent the pain and keep you comfortable during surgery. During laparoscopy, a small incision is made in the abdomen. More than one incision may be done if other tools will be used during the operation. A needle is inserted through the first incision and gas (carbon dioxide or nitrous oxide) is slowly inserted through the needle to expand the abdomen. Gas lift the abdominal wall away from the internal organs so that the doctor can see clearly.

Sheets will be put over you to keep the surgery area clean. A laparoscope and other tools will be incorporated into a 2 or 5 small incisions (cuts) are made in your abdomen. Once your surgery is complete, the piece is closed with stitches (thread) or staples. Adhesive strips or bandages can also be placed over the incision. It is normal to have a bruise on the skin incision site. A thin, lighted tube (laparoscope) is then inserted through the incision to see internal organs. Other tools can be used to take samples of tissue, repair damage or drain the cyst. Laser can be attached to the laparoscope to assist with the operation. Health care providers will clean your stomach with soap and water. This soap may make your skin yellow, but it will be cleaned of later.

After surgery, all the equipment will be removed, and the gas will be released. The incision will be closed with stitches and covered with a bandage. The scar will be very small and will fade over time. After surgery: you are taken to a room where heart and breathing will be monitored. Do not get out of bed until your health care provider says it's OK. A bandage may cover wounds to help prevent infection. You may be able to go home after some time passes. An adult will need to drive home and should stay with you for 24 hours. If you can not go home, you will be taken to a hospital room. .
